Trading Rules & Goals
Automated tracking for process rules and outcome targets across daily, weekly and monthly periods.
More Details
What are Trading Rules?
A rule is a condition with a scope: a metric, an operator, a target, and the set of trades it applies to.
metric OP target WHERE <which trades this applies to>
That scope uses the same filter engine as the trades table and every chart, so a rule can be written about how you traded, not only what it paid. Every outcome goal still works unchanged.

Three lanes, never averaged together
Process
Did you behave the way you said you would.
- No trades tagged from your Mistakes group
- At least 80% of trades tagged A+
- No entries outside your session window
- Every trade has a note
Guardrails
Hard risk limits that are never "mostly" kept.
- Every trade has a stop set
- No single loss worse than your limit
- Adverse excursion inside your planned risk
Outcome
The classic targets.
- Total PnL > $500
- Win Rate > 50%
- Commissions < $50
A blended score across these lanes would let a profitable day paper over a broken risk limit, so each lane reports its own kept/total.
Rules about sequence
Because TradesViz stores execution-level timestamps and sizes, it can check the order trades happened in, not just individual trades:
- Anti-revenge cool-off: no entry within N minutes of a losing close
- Re-entry cap: at most N trades on one symbol
- No position size escalation after a loss
- Stop after a losing streak
Each names the exact trades that broke it.
Four outcomes per period
- Kept: checked, and you followed it
- Broken: checked, and you did not
- Not judged: not enough review coverage to tell
- N/A: nothing eligible to check
"Not judged" is what stops a zero-tolerance rule like "no mistake tags" scoring 100% on a day you tagged nothing.
Scope options
Tag groups, tags, entry and exit time windows, symbols, trade plans, hold time, R multiple, direction, asset type, trade result, and trade hygiene (has a stop, target, note, tag or plan).
Timeframes
Daily, weekly and monthly, each with its own rule set and its own streak. Streaks count eligible sessions, not calendar days.
Automated calculation
Checked after every import and sync, from the full analytics engine: MFE/MAE, R-values, net PnL with commission profiles, tags, notes and trade plans.
Visualization
- Per-rule gauge coloured by outcome
- Per-lane kept/total
- Clean streak and 30-period adherence under the table
- Discipline marker beside the PnL colour on the calendar
Rule Outcome as a filter
Rule outcomes are stored per day, so "Rule Outcome" is available in the global filter drawer. Because every chart and statistic reads the same filter layer, this answers one question across the whole product: what are my results on days I followed my rules against days I broke them.
Where to find it in TradesViz
