What is EOD Exit Analysis?
EOD (End of Day) Exit analysis answers a simple question: What if you simply exited your trade at the end of the trading day?
Unlike Best Exit (which finds the optimal point), EOD Exit simulates a straightforward strategy: hold until market close.
How It Works
The system takes your last execution and simulates moving it to end of day. It calculates what your PnL would have been if you closed at the closing bell.
EOD Exit vs Best Exit
| Metric | Logic |
|---|---|
| Best Exit | Find optimal exit point respecting risk constraints |
| EOD Exit | Simply hold until market close |
EOD Exit is easier to execute in practice - many brokers offer "close at EOD" orders.
Practical Applications
- Strategy Comparison: Is your active management beating a simple "hold till close" approach?
- Overtrading Detection: If EOD Exit consistently beats actual PnL, you may be exiting too early
- Day Pattern Analysis: Which days of the week benefit most from holding till EOD?
