Treemaps allow traders to visualize hierarchical data where the size and color of rectangles represent different metrics.
Applications in Trading
- Sector Analysis: Visualize which sectors (Tech, Energy, Finance) are generating your PnL. The size of the box can represent Volume, while the color represents PnL (Green for profit, Red for loss).
- Tag Analysis: Quickly spot which strategies are consuming the most capital (Size) versus which are actually profitable (Color).
- Symbol Heatmap: A bird's eye view of all traded tickers to instantly identify the 'big losers' or 'home runs'.
TradesViz Implementation
Interactive treemaps allow zooming and drilling down into specific symbol or tag groups directly from the dashboard.
Where to find it in TradesViz
Dashboard > Custom Dashboard > Add Widget > Treemap. Available groupings include Symbol, Tag, Sector, and Asset Type. Size represents volume or trade count, color represents PnL (green/red). Click to drill down into subcategories.

A large red box for 'SPY' indicates high volume but large losses.
